FOUND 0.4.47 — Patch for 0.4.46
A sound pass, fire that spreads, a safer save system and a batch of fixes from your reports.
Sound
- Footsteps land with your feet. A step sounds when a foot comes down and only if you really moved. They no longer cut out on grass or go silent while sprinting, and there are none while a heavy log holds you in place.
- Snow footsteps are much quieter.
- Landing sounds follow the ground: grass, dirt, snow, mud, stone, wood, water.
- Animals and zombies have footsteps, on whatever ground they walk on, and they thud when they are thrown and hit the ground.
- Swimming is heard stroke by stroke, in time with the arms.
- Items, animals and zombies splash when they fall into water.
- A breaking tree is a short crack again (a long falling-tree recording played there, and on rocks too). Rocks break with their own short sound.
- The error buzzer is gone from the game. Hitting something with the wrong tool sounds like a normal hit and shows the reason on screen.
- Birds no longer all sing the moment the world opens, and are silent in the snow.
- Burning trees no longer play a short, obviously repeating loop.
- While you are on fire the scream repeats, with pauses, until the fire is out.
Gameplay
- Fire spreads. A burning tree can light the trees and bushes around it, and anything alive that stands too close, you included. Burning zombies and animals carry the fire with them. Rain stops it, snow slows it. A campfire still stays where it is, but walking into it sets creatures alight.
- Dragging a log raises dust where it rubs the ground.
- Kicked animals no longer sink into the ground and pop back out; they land on their side.
- Finished tasks can be reopened: click a completed task in the task window to do it again.
Saves
- No more accidental overwrites. A save made without choosing a slot goes to this world's own slot, or to a free one; another world's save is only replaced when you pick that slot yourself. Auto saves only ever write to the auto save slot.
- Name your saves: a Rename button on every manual save.
- Saves are written safely: a crash or power cut while saving can no longer leave a broken file, and the previous version of each slot is kept as a backup.
- Continue always opens the newest save (renaming one no longer makes it "newest").
Menus
- The epilepsy warning appears once, at start-up, with Confirm and Exit. It no longer flashes for a second each time you return to the main menu.
- UI scale, HUD scale and the FPS limit are drop-down preset lists.
Look
- Shooting stars are bright now: a white-hot head, a long orange tail and flames trailing behind.
- Your arms no longer flicker or vanish on the bicycle handlebar in first person.
Cheat panel (F1)
- Tidied: duplicate give-item buttons and old one-off test switches removed. "EVERYTHING ON" and "Give one of everything" cover them.
- New: a switch for fire spreading, with a count of burning trees.
Known issues
- Sound levels between effects are still being balanced.
- Fire does not spread to grass.
